The Dental Museum of the Collection of Dentistry, Seoul National University, is the first dental museum in Korea. It first opened in 1994 and re-opened on December 28,2001.
The Dental Museum houses a total of 6,000 dentistry-reiated medical devices,drugs, documents,books(1,500)and dates back to the period when modern western dentistry was introduced to Korea by the Japanse.Being the only one of its kind in Korea, the museum has various materials that showcase the development of the modern dentistry in Korea on display.
The museum's purpose is not limited to collecting and exhibiting dentistry-related item and providing the related information,but also serves as a venue of education to future students and as an information archive that preserves the history of dentistry. The museum also acts as a cultural space that allows the public to experience the history of dentistry in Korea up close and provides them with useful information that can be applied in their daily lives.
